Common questions

Is salary in Dubai really tax-free?

Yes. The UAE charges no personal income tax on salaries, so your monthly take-home equals your full gross pay. Your real savings depend mostly on rent and lifestyle, which is what this calculator estimates.

How is gratuity (end-of-service) calculated?

Under UAE labour law you earn roughly 21 days of basic salary for each of your first 5 years, and 30 days per year after that, capped at two years' total pay. We assume your basic salary is about 60% of your gross, which is typical — adjust your figures if your contract differs.

What AED to INR rate should I use?

The rate moves daily and currently sits near ₹23–24 per AED. We default to 23.50 and let you edit it. For sending money, transfer services usually beat the bank's rate.

Are the living costs accurate?

They're editable estimates for a single person sharing accommodation and living carefully. Families, solo flats, or a fancier lifestyle will cost more — change the numbers to match your plan.
